Chelsea are currently only in sixth place. However, fifth place this season is enough to compete for the Champions League next season. To achieve that, every point counts in the final stages. Now, a match against a defensively strong opponent awaits. In the remaining fixtures, Chelsea will face two direct rivals, as well as Manchester United and Liverpool. The final matches couldn't be much more complicated, and then there are the Conference League semi-finals against Djurgarden coming up in the next few days, which are of course given less priority. Given the upcoming challenges, the only thing that matters in the third-to-last home game is a win against Everton. Everton's defensive wall has yet to be cracked. Chelsea have conceded just as many goals as Everton but have scored 24 goals more and collected 19 more points. The results at Stamford Bridge have been largely impressive. Only two defeats in 16 matches, with a total of nine wins, five of which came in their last six matches. Everton, meanwhile, have just four wins away from Goodison Park as only the newly promoted side have beaten that number. |
